Thyroid Liothyronine (T3)
T3 is a biologically active form of thyroid hormones. From 1/3 to 1/5 of the total amount of thyroid hormones produced by the thyroid gland enters the bloodstream immediately in the form of triiodothyronine. The remaining 2 / 3-4 / 5 enters the blood in the form of biologically inactive thyroxine, which is actually a prohormone. But in peripheral tissues thyroxine by means of metalloenzymes selenium-dependent monodeiodinase is deiodinated, converted to triiodothyronine.
Pharmachologic Effect
Synthetic thyroid hormone. Stimulates growth and development, increases tissue oxygen demand, stimulates the metabolism of proteins, fats and carbohydrates, increases the functional activity of the cardiovascular system and the central nervous system. In high doses, it inhibits the production of TSH of the hypothalamus and TSH of the pituitary gland.
Indication of the active substance LYOTYRONIN
Primary and secondary hypothyroidism, diffuse and mixed euthyroid goiter, subacute and autoimmune thyroiditis, thyroid cancer (after surgical treatment), obesity with hypothyroidism.
